I love decorating a table for the holidays with placemats, table runners, centerpieces. Halloween and Christmas are the best decorating holidays. The squashed witch crochet pattern can be done in different colors to create a squashed elf!

I have more fun creating things for my Halloween party and Christmas dinner than any other decorations.

So why not a pattern that can be used for both holidays?

Construction

The Squashed Witch Placemat was an idea I had a few years ago. I created the prototype in an afternoon.

But it took two years to realize that with a few strategic color changes, the same pattern could also be used to create a Squashed Elf Placemat.

The pattern works up exactly the same for both, but the colors are adjusted for the season.

This pattern can also be purchased as a Premium Pattern (printable, ad-free, downloadable .pdf file) here. The Premium Pattern can also be found on Etsy or Ravelry

The Premium Pattern contain a BONUS PATTERN for a Witch/Elf Hat Coaster that matches the placemat, not available with free version.

All patterns are written in US terms using Craft Yarn Council abbreviations.

Easy. Knowledge needed of chains (ch), slip stitch (sl st), single crochet (sc), half-double crochet (hdc), double crochet (dc), back loops only (BLO), increases and decreases.

Pattern Notes

  • Ch-3 at beginning of row/rnd counts as dc.

Thanks for the round up!! 🙂
