Two-Color Twisted Chain Border | Video Tutorial

A Twisted Chain border is one of my favorite finishing touches for blankets and home decor items. It is whimsical and full of flair.

Because it can be done in a classic red and white stripe, it is often called the “candy cane border.”

The twisted chain border is a crochet stitch for blankets and home decor accents. This video tutorial will walk you through adding the Twisted Chain Border to the edge of any crochet work.

Two-Color Twisted Chain Border: Step By Step

  1. With 1st color, sl st in 1st st of edge, ch 5, drop yarn.
  2. With 2nd color, sl st in 2nd st of edge, ch 5, drop yarn.
  3. Pick up 1st color, move work in front of 2nd color, sc in next st, ch 5, drop yarn.
  4. Pick up 2nd color, move work in front of 1st color, sc in next st, ch 5, drop yarn. Repeat steps 3 and 4 to end of edge.
