This free crochet pattern includes two Easter Dragon Wreath Flair designs: bunny ears for the dragon and plush Easter eggs that sit inside the wreath as seasonal decorations.

Celebrate spring with the Easter Flair set for the Dragon Wreath! This free crochet pattern includes two festive designs: soft bunny ears that fit onto the dragon and plush Easter eggs designed to sit inside the center of the wreath. Together, these Flair pieces create a cheerful Easter display while using the existing Dragon Wreath base pattern.

Bind off leaving long tail for sewing.

Press flat.

Thread yarn through st on far end of flattened rnd, pinching closed base of ear and creating a circle with 6 sts on the outside and 6 on the inside.

Using attachment method of your choice (see Attachment Options section), attach ears between and slightly in front of horns on the head of the Dragon Wreath.

Hint: I suggest using the Invisible Whip Stitch for these because it can be harder to get the pins to hold when attaching to the head.

Easter Eggs

(Make 2)

With MC, ch 2.

Rnd 1: 6 sc in second ch from hook. (6)

Rnd 2: Inc in each st around. (12)

Rnd 13: Change to MC, sc evenly around.

Rnd 14: [6 sc, dec] 3 times. (21)

Rnd 15: Sc evenly around.

Rnd 16: [5 sc, dec] 3 times. (18)

Rnd 17: Change to AC1, [SPsc 2 rows below, sc] 9 times. (18)

Rnd 18: Change to MC, Sc evenly around.

Stuff.

Rnd 19: [4 sc, dec] 3 times. (15)

Rnd 20: [3 sc, dec] 3 times. (12)

Rnd 21: Dec 6 times. (6)

Cut yarn. Thread needle through front loops of remaining 6 stitches. Pull tight to close. Leave long tail to use as hanging loop.

Using desired Attachment method (I suggest T pins), attach eggs, tilted to lean together, on the inside edge of the wreath beside the head of the Dragon Wreath.

Attachment Options for All Flair Pieces

To be able to change out your Dragon Wreath Flair, you will need a way to temporarily attach the parts. There are several options, so choose the one that works best for you.

T Pins

Using T-shaped pins to attach parts is great for round embellishments or any pieces that need to be attached around the foam part of the wreath.

For large round pieces (Easter eggs, hot cocoa mug, etc.), use 2-3 to be more secure.

If possible, stick the pin directly into the foam of the wreath. This is the fastest and cleanest method to attach parts.

Safety Pins

Using Safety Pins is slightly more secure than T Pins because they can be locked in place. They also work well on all parts of the wreath, including the tail and wings.

Be sure to pin through both the Flair and the Wreath, and on the backside of the work.

This method is more tricky and can leave gaps between the Flair and wreath.

Temporary Whip Stitch

This is my favorite method for attaching parts. It is secure and you can adjust the fit of the parts slightly if desired (like the tail embellishments).

Using a matching strand of yarn, sew the Flair to the Wreath, skipping at least 3 stitches and not pulling too tightly. You should sew no more than 6-8 stitches per attachment.

Leave a long starting tail. Sew in a circle and come back around to the starting tail. Thread both tails out of the same stitch. Tie the tails in a bow that can easily be removed. Cut ends short enough they donโ€™t show behind the wreath.

When you are ready to change your Dragon Wreath Flair for the next holiday, untie your bow and use your finger or a blunt end of a tapestry needle to remove stitches one at a time.

I also have a video for this method on the YouTube channel.
