- For Tulips: Big Twist Value yarn, 100% acrylic, worsted weight, 380 yds/6 oz/170 g, Mint (MINT), < 1 ball. Choose any color for FLOWER COLOR. Pictured: Lilac (LIL), < 1 ball; Baby Pink (PNK), < 1 ball; Pale Yellow (YEL), < 1 ball.
- For Trowel: Big Twist Value yarn, 100% acrylic, worsted weight, 380 yds/6 oz/170 g, Toffee (TOFF), < 1 ball; Titanium Grey (GREY), < 1 ball.
- For Gardening Hat: : Red Heart Super Saver yarn, 100% acrylic, worsted weight, 364 yds/7 oz/198 g, Cornmeal (CORN), < 1 ball.
- G (4.00 mm) hook
- Polyfil stuffing
- Tapestry needle
- 2 or 3 18” pieces of 18-gauge wire for trowel and tulip stems
- Optional: T pins or safety pins for temporary attachment to wreath
Measurements
- Tulips: 5” long x 2” wide
- Trowel: 7.5” long x 3” wide
- Hat: 5” in diameter x 2” tall

8 sts x 8 rows in sc = 2” x 2”
Pattern Notes
- Work in continuous rounds. Do not slip stitch unless otherwise specified by the pattern.
- For best results, assemble parts in order as directed.
Special Stitches
- Picot – Picot: Ch 3, sl st in 3rd ch from hook.
- Spike-st – Spike single crochet 1 row below: Insert hook into st one row below working st, yarn over, draw up a loop, yarn over, pull through both loops on hook.

Rnds 19-22: Sc evenly around.
Rnd 23: [skip 2, working in BLO, (3 dc, picot (see Special Stitches), 3 dc) in next st, skip 2, sl st in BLO of next st] 4 times.

Insert wire into stem, stopping when you reach the tulip. Cut the wire and tuck end into step.

Stuff.
Bind off, leaving long tail for sewing.
Press the last rnd of the handle flat. Using the remaining tail, sew the handle to the center of the last row of the Blade.
Insert wire from the hand through the whole length of the blade.
Gently curve the blade into a shovel shape before attaching to wreath.
Temporary whip stitch is the easiest way to attach the Trowel to the Tail. Wrap the short end of the tail around the handle of the trowel, blade facing up at an angle away from the wreath. Use a temporary whip stitch to sew the tail around the handle.
