This pineapple cushion crochet pattern uses self-striping yarn to make a bright, welcoming addition to home or patio decor. Pineapples are symbols of hospitality, making this pillow a great housewarming gift or decoration for a front porch, welcoming your guests into your home.

My front patio has a porch swing facing the road. It is often the first thing people see when they pull up to my house, so I decided it really needed a bright, welcoming cushion.

Naturally, a pineapple was the first thing that came to mind.

Did you know that the pineapple is a symbol of hospitality? When colonial sea captains returned from their tropical voyages, they would take pineapples from their cargo and hang them on their front door gatepost as a sign of welcome and hospitality. Later, people began carving pineapple designs into doorways and using them in home décor to add warmth and welcome to a home.

I have always had pineapple decor around as a welcome to guests, so what better place than the front porch?

The Parti Pineapple Cushion is part of the CAL Central 2021 Softie Crochet-Along, put on by Underground Crafter and sponsored by Fairfield World.

Fairfield World is the maker of my favorite stuffing, Poly-fil!

The CAL is a great chance to win some amazing prizes! Go check out the main page for the CAL, sign up for the giveaway, and then go to the Facebook Group to get the rest of the patterns from the summer of softie fun!

Construction

The texture on the front and back panel of the cushion are done in a Suzette Stitch pattern. I love this stitch!

They are attached by a side piece, sewn between them to add depth to the cushion.

The leaves are each made separately and attached one at a time to the top of the pineapple, along the side piece.

This pattern is FREE right here, as part of the CAL.
