This pattern is written for confident beginners to intermediate crocheters. Basic amigurumi skills like working in the round, increasing, decreasing, and sewing pieces together will be helpful. It also uses a few intermediate skills to make the sunglasses border and the curve of the inner tube. If you are willing to learn, you can crochet this pattern.
What yarn works best for amigurumi?
Worsted weight acrylic or cotton yarn works best for most amigurumi patterns. Using a smaller hook than recommended will help create tight stitches with fewer gaps.
How do I keep my amigurumi from having holes?
Use a hook smaller than the yarn label suggests and keep your stitches tight. This helps prevent stuffing from showing through the fabric.

You Need to Know
Chains (ch), slip stitch (sl st), single crochet (sc), increases (inc) and decreases (dec), right side (RS), wrong side (WS), back loops only (BLO), mattress stitch sewing. Be eager to learn and ready to have fun!

Supplies
- For Pool Inner Tube: Big Twist Value yarn, 100% acrylic, worsted weight, 380 yds/6 oz/170 g, White (WHT), < 1 ball; Varsity Red (RED), < 1 ball.
- For Sunglasses: Big Twist Value yarn, 100% acrylic, worsted weight, 380 yds/6 oz/170 g, Black (BLK), < 1 ball; Varsity Blue, < 1 ball; White (WHT), scraps.
- G (4.00 mm) hook
- Polyfil stuffing
- Tapestry needle
- Optional: T pins or safety pins for temporary attachment to wreath
Measurements
- Inner Tube: 9” wide x 3” tall x 6” deep
- Sunglasses 6” x 2.5”
Gauge
8 sts x 8 rows in sc = 2” x 2”
Pattern Notes
- Work in continuous rounds. Do not slip stitch unless otherwise specified by the pattern.
- Rounds labeled “Short round” are worked back and forth and will end before the round is complete, leaving stitches deliberately unworked to be worked in later rounds as instructed.
- When instructed, an additional sc(s) will be added at the end of a round to move the starting stitch of the next round to the left (clockwise). This does not change the stitch count of the round. It only moves the starting point.
Special Stitches
- Invisible finish: Cut yarn and pull through last st. Thread yarn through a needle. Skip next st and insert needle from front to back under both loops of the following st. Insert hook down through starting st where the yarn originally came out. Pull gently until the created loop is the same size as the existing stitches. Weave in end.
- Sc join – Single crochet join: With long starting tail, make slip knot in yarn, loop slip knot over hook, insert hook through stitch, yo, pull through, yarn over, pull through both loops on hook. Leave starting tail on outside of work.

On second Lens, mark sts #11, 12, and 13. These should be the third dc in the second increase and the two sts after it.
Frames and Attachment
Rnd 1: With BLU, sc join in 1st dc of Rnd 4 on first lens, [3 sc in next st, 7 sc] twice, inc, 5 sc, inc, 6 sc, sl st in 1st st to join, turn. (35)
Rnd 2: (WS) (Short Rnd) Ch 1, 3 sc, turn. (3)

Attachment: Hold second Lens RS to RS on back side of the work. Ch 1, working through the next st and the marked st on the second lens, 3 sc, do not turn.
