Frilly Tree Ornament

All patterns are written in US terms using Craft Yarn Council abbreviations.

Easy. Knowledge needed of chains (ch), slip stitch (sl st), single crochet (sc), increases and decreases.

 Supplies

• Red Heart With Love yarn, 100% acrylic, worsted weight, 370 yds/7 oz/198 g, Spinach (SPIN), < 1 ball; Aran (ARAN), < 1 ball.
• Furls G (4.00 mm) hook
• Tapestry needle
• 1.5 “ T-pins
• One wine cork
• Ribbon to hang (optional)

Measurements

3.5” tall x 3” wide

Gauge

Gauge is not important for this project.

 Pattern Notes

• Work in continuous rounds. Do not slip stitch unless otherwise specified by the pattern.
• For best results, assemble parts in order as directed.

 Pattern Stitches

• Picot: Ch 3, sl st in first ch.

Rnd 1: 6 sc in second ch from hook. (6)

Rnd 2: [Sc, inc] 3 times. (9)

Rnd 3: [2 sc, inc] 3 times. (12)

Rnd 4: (Sc, picot (see Pattern Stitches)) in next st, [sc, (sc, picot) in next st] 5 times, sl st. (12 sc, 6 picots)

Bind off and weave in ends.

 Layer 2

With ARAN, ch 2.

Rnd 1: 6 sc in second ch from hook. (6)

Rnd 2: [Sc, inc] 3 times. (9)

Rnd 3: [2 sc, inc] 3 times. (12)

Rnd 4: [3 sc, inc] 3 times. (15)

Rnd 5: [4 sc, inc] 3 times. (18)

Rnd 6: (Sc, picot) in next st, [sc, (sc, picot) in next st] 8 times, sl st. (18 sc, 9 picots)

Bind off and weave in ends.

 Assembly

Stack layers, biggest to smallest.

Insert pin through the top, down through the layers and into the center of the cork.

Thread yarn or ribbon through the loop at the top of the pin.
