Short Scarf (Scarfette) | Free Crochet Pattern
This is a fun, easy, fast pattern that makes a great gift and is a great way to show off the pretty yarn.
Here in Colorado, winter hits hard, and the air stings against any exposed skin. I love scarves, but in order to cover my neck well, I want them under my coat to provide the most warmth. This means that when I button my coat, the long ends hang out the bottom like a tail in the front!
To alleviate that, I wrote the Scarfette pattern. It allows me to put a warm, lovely addition to my coat but does not hang out the bottom.
I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!
Beginner pattern. Need to have knowledge of half double crochet (hdc), double crochet (dc).

Kati, here a question all the way from The Netherlands: is the repeat you mentioned of the rows (1 and 2) correct? Or should it be after row 3 row 2 and 3? I just wonder, because now row 4 will be the hdc again, just like row 3. Or do you mean repeat row 1, 2 and 3?
I want to make this shawl for my mother of almost 89.

You are right, it should be repeat Rows 2 and 3. I will correct. Thanks!
Ruth
is there a buttonhole or do you sew the two sides together with the button?

The stitches are large enough that there is no need for a button hole. You can button it between any two stitches. 🙂
